If the destination filter is not subsequently synchronised to the source, then each future backup will full re-copy the files to the "missing" folder.ġ in the source, 2 in the destination: the not-common folder is deleted from the source. If the selected folders are not the same:Ģ in the source, 1 in the destination: both source folders get copied to the destination. Select the destination drive, start with an empty list, select EXACTLY the same folders as selected in the source (this requires me to create them manually in the destination location in the first place, a one-off event)Īny new folders created in either location are ignored, ie not added to or taken away from the filters. Select source drive, start with an empty list, select the folders I want to copyĢ. OK, I have experimented and got my head around the principle of the "two resulting file trees". Maybe it could say “Everything” or “Everything with no exceptions”, changing to “Everything with some exceptions” when applicable?

On a related note, in the UI, “What to backup” says “Everything with some exceptions” even no exceptions are made. If this is not currently possible, could it be implemented, please? I’m sure this would be useful to many, unless I am indeed missing something obvious. Is it possible to create a job, select a source Drive, then exclude a number of folders, but have the backup effectively restrict itself to the selected folders? In other words, in backing up x, y, z, ignore a, b, c (ie, don’t delete a, b, c as they don’t form part of x, y, z!). This is not hard, of course, and I run in batches, but it sure fills up the UI! The current way of working forces me to create a lot of backup jobs, each dedicated to the highest level source folder that will not interfere with anything else on the destination. I backup from various sources to a backup drive. In “What to backup”, whatever ever options I chose (exclude from the source, or start blank and include), the same process will be followed, the source DRIVE will be copied to the destination DRIVE, albeit following the above options. If I select source & destination DRIVES (ie their roots), then a complete copy will be made of one to the other. I may be missing something obvious here, so please bear with me.
